Overall Responsibility

The VP, Finance is primarily responsible for overall financial leadership for the Americas region including but, not limited to managing the company's financial planning, financial reporting, transaction processing, internal controls & management of financial risks.

Key Task and Responsibilities

Lead the finance team in planning & reporting to include:


  • Lead the annual budget and  planning process for the Americas.
  • Work with commercial and operational leadership to manage and execute growth and cost reduction plans.
  • Oversee cash flow planning and ensure availability of funds as needed.
  • Drive performance metrics against the annual budget, quarterly forecasts and company’s long-range plan (multi-year financial model)
  • Develop tools and systems to measure critical financial and operational information.
  • Develop and implement performance metrics against new product development, including payback/ ROI on capital investment.
  • Develop and implement performance metrics to evaluate customer and product profitability on an ongoing basis.
  • Assist in establishing yearly financial objectives.
  • Evaluate and advise on the impact of long-range planning, introduction of new programs/strategies and regulatory action.
  • Lead financial support services for all areas of the business (e.g. Sales, Marketing, Operations) to ensure financial awareness and accountability within the company
  • Develop credibility for the finance group by providing timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports and financial trends assisting the President, Americas & other senior executives in performing their responsibilities.


Lead and direct the accounting team to include the following:


  • Oversee the accounting department to ensure proper maintenance of all accounting systems.
  • Ensure maintenance of appropriate internal controls and financial procedures.
  • Ensure timely, accurate and useful financial and management reporting.
  • Coordinate audits and file proper tax and other statutory returns.
  • Provide technical financial advice and knowledge to others within the financial discipline.
  • Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision making issues affecting the organization
  • Develop and utilize forward looking, predictive models and financial analyses to provide insight into the organization’s operations and business plans to optimize business performance.
  • Provide senior financial analytical business partnership and counsel by demonstrating outstanding financial analysis, communication, interpretation, and scenario planning skills resulting in improved business results.
  • Collaborate with the management team to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of systems, processes, and personnel designed to accommodate the growth objectives of Britax Americas organization.
  • Be an advisor from the financial perspective on any contracts into which the Britax Americas corporation may enter.
  • Establish credibility throughout the organization and with the Board as an effective developer of solutions to business challenges.


Develop and maintain a high-performing finance team:

  • Evaluate continuous improvement opportunities with people, processes and technologies.
  • Motivate and lead the finance team; attract, recruit, and retain required members of the team.


Skills and Attributes

  • The ability to keep “big picture” view while remaining hands on in detail and day to day accounting.
  • The ability to serve as financial lead to the Americas business while also being responsive to the needs of the company’s Global financial requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience in the application of analytical methods of addressing business issues, with an emphasis on overall corporate decision analysis.
  • Knowledge of a variety of financial and accounting reporting systems.
  • Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations including sales tax and transfer pricing (international experience a plus).
  • Working knowledge of short and long-term budgets and forecasting, rolling budgets and product-line profitability.
  • A sense of urgency to meet tight timelines and provide timely feedback and analysis for the organization.
  • Experience in a durable goods environment would be helpful to support the forward-looking Sales and Marketing areas.
  • Strong functional leadership skills.
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and commitment to corporate mission (“Rules of procedure”).
  • A demonstrated track record of leadership, team building, and business process reengineering.
  • Had verifiable success leading a finance organization through a dynamic and fast-changing industry.

  • Experience working in a variety of financial or operating assignments in which he or she has been responsible for executing best-in-class disciplines to optimize business results.

Experience Required

Minimum 10 years of progressive finance experience with at least 5 years as a corporate finance leader, preferably in a manufacturing or consumer goods environment.

BA/BS Degree required.  MBA and/or CPA preferred.
