Supply Chain & Purchasing Director

Package Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of Supply Chain & Purchasing specific to Product & Related Services, based out of our Port Melbourne site.  In this role you will lead and set functional strategy, manage the day-to-day activity of the team and deliver the relevant KPI as defined by the regional President & Global Sourcing Director. 

Key Accountabilities

Supply Chain & Logistics (est. 50%)

  • Ensure MRP parameters (D365) are set to maximise flexibility in delivery and maintain sufficient inventory levels.
  • Management of all aspects of the relationship with the 3PL provider, to ensure optimisation of warehouse & distribution activity, achievement of KPIs and service levels as agreed.
  • Management of all aspects of the relationship with the Transport providers, to ensure achievement of KPIs and service levels as contractually agreed.
  • Manage contract negotiations with Supply Chain Service Providers
  • Management of all aspects of ECR / NCR / Phase in / Phase out from supplier perspective.
  • Determine global / regional freight strategy, including driving initiatives to optimise freight, storage & handling costs (ELT Member of consortium).

Sourcing & Purchasing  (est. 20%)

  • APAC rep for global sourcing team
  • Overall responsibility for purchase price of all retail ready products, which includes supporting engineering led NPD & VAVE projects.
  • Support NPD process as determined by the Milestone process
  • Complete monthly cycle of purchasing reports – PPV, spend analysis, rebates and other trackers.
  • Ensure cost of failure & related claims are recovered from delinquent suppliers

Demand & Product Availability  (est. 15%)

  • Key component of the monthly SF&OP process to ensure the supply base is capable of meeting overall business requirements
  • Fully understand and communicate supplier capacity, holiday period constraints & lead-times to SF&OP team

Other Responsibilities  (est. 15%)

  • Day-to-day management and support of the supply chain team.
  • Reporting: cost to serve / constraints / DIFOT / PPV
  • Manage data administration requirements on behalf of ANZ cross-functional requirements.
  • Provide input to budget & forecasting process for Supply Chain & Purchasing function. 

Key Skills Required

  • Strong Supply Chain & Purchasing management skills, with ability to manage and delegate to a small team.
  • Must be comfortable in both strategic and tactical environments
  • Be able to work efficiently and effectively in a matrix organisation, be able to influence and lead members who are not direct reports, within project constraints (time, cost & quality)
  • Extensive negotiating experience to include contracts, cost models, cost avoidance & rebate calculations
  • Experience leading a team, with ability to set objectives, manage priorities and allocate resources based on direct & cross-functional day-to-day business needs
  • Min. 6 years of experience in a related specialised field (FMCG, automotive etc)
  • Experience managing / working within a global supply chain, particularly Asia


  • University degree in Supply Chain / Purchasing preferable
  • Membership of a recognised Supply Chain / Purchasing professional body also preferable, e.g. AAPCM or SCLAA
